In addition, he coaches AYSO soccer teams.
Mike Demetriou joined Baum as Chief Operating Officer in 2012 and was promoted to President in 2016. Mike handles the day to day management and operations for Baum, with a focus on business development and recruiting.
An attorney, Mike was previously a Senior Real Estate Associate at both Sidley Austin and SNR Denton where he focused on the financing, acquisition, disposition, and leasing of commercial real estate throughout the country. Significant representations included KeyBank, JPMorgan Chase, Metro Storage, Royal Bank of Scotland, Starwood and Wells Fargo. His practice also included zoning and land use matters for businesses and universities as well as non-profit entities. On a pro-bono basis, Mike also represented the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio, the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum and Mike also served as general counsel to The Cara Foundation.
Prior to his career as an attorney, Mike worked in executive compensation for Hughes and Lucent and managed business development for a closely held telecommunications consulting firm. Mike received a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University and a law degree, with honors, from Chicago-Kent College of Law.
Mike volunteers his time with the Lake View Pantry, and he currently sits on the boards of the South East Lake View Neighbors (SELVN), and the Francis W. Parker School.
Allen Joffe is both a principal and the managing broker of Baum Realty Group, LLC. Since joining the firm in 1993, Allen has provided clients with an unmatched knowledge of the Chicago area retail leasing business. He has successfully negotiated and managed lease transactions for more than 50 clients.
Allen has overseen retail leasing programs for both urban and suburban properties and has completed land sales ranging from 1 to 80 acres, successfully negotiated lease terminations, consulted for the Chicago Transit Authority and Mesirow-Stein, as well as brokering approximately $30 million of investment sales transactions on behalf of DIKA Management.
Allen has been recognized for his achievements by the Commercial Forum, a division of the Chicago Association of Realtors (CAR) on numerous occasions. He was awarded Broker of the Year for Tenant Representation three years in a row, was the recipient of the Jimmy John’s Top Producer award, and was awarded the Top Retail Leasing Broker distinction in Chicago by CoStar three times.
Allen is an active member of the Ely Chapter of Lambda Alpha International, The Realty Club and is a member of the State Board of Directors for the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is an advisor for the Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC) and also serves on the Project Review Committee of the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association. In addition, beginning in 2014, Allen was selected to join an elite group of real estate industry leaders as a mentor with the Harold E. Eisenberg Foundation, where he provides guidance to students interested in pursuing a career in real estate.
In his spare time, Allen is an avid soccer player and bicyclist. Participating in the MS Tour de Farm is an annual event for the Joffes. The ‘Gold Spokes’ distinction for being one of the top fundraisers has been bestowed on Allen since 2012.
Allen graduated from Illinois State University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing.
Adam Secher has been a partner with Baum since 2001. Representing both landlords and tenants, Adam has fostered long term relationships with retailers and restaurateurs throughout Chicago’s most desirable retail corridors.
As a founding member of Baum’s Luxury Division, Adam spends time with landlords and tenants specializing in the fashion and lifestyle categories. He is responsible for the recently completed flagship Gold Coast stores for Marc Jacobs, Saint Laurent, Anthropologie’s new BHLDN Concept, Brioni, Madewell, Perchance, Starbucks, Le Pain Quotidien, Vans and Warby Parker.
As one of Baum Realty’s restaurant specialists, Adam’s clients include Starbucks, Chipotle, Union Sushi, Roka Akor, Tortoise Club, Fish Bar, DMK Burger Bar and a variety of local independent restaurants. He also represents numerous landlords including the Waldorf Astoria Chicago, Repak Development and Golub & Company. Adam possesses an intimate knowledge and understanding of Chicago’s retail communities including the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Bucktown and Wicker Park.
Adam is past vice-chairman of the Chicago Association of Realtors’ Commercial Forum committee and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers where he sits on the committee for the Illinois ICSC State Committee. Previously, he served as co-chairman of the Chicago’s Next Generation committee.
Adam earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin in 1993.
Janika Brenner joined Baum in October 2002 after spending five years in public relations. A founding member of Baum’s Luxury Division, Janika specializes in the representation of fashion, lifestyle and home furnishing retailers, as well as Landlord representation in key urban markets including the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Bucktown / Wicker Park, River North and select upscale suburban areas. She possesses in-depth knowledge of Chicago’s retail scene with a specific focus on the luxury sector.
Janika has represented numerous institutional and entrepreneurial owners in the successful leasing of their retail space. Among her notable assignments are serving as the exclusive leasing agent for Waldorf Astoria Chicago where she arranged leases with Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs and Perchance; the leasing of 8-12 E. Walton Street to BHLDN (Anthropologie’s wedding concept); the merchandising and leasing of The Shops on Fremont in Lincoln Park to Anthropologie and Williams Sonoma; and the leasing of 210 W. Chicago Avenue to the ultra-luxury women’s retailer Blake.
Since 2004, she has completed more than 15 transactions in the Bucktown neighborhood helping to transform the area into one of Chicago’s most sought-after retail destinations. Those transactions include such notable retailers as Scoop NYC, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Nanette Lepore, American Apparel, Levi’s, BCBG and Joe’s Jeans.
Janika received a bachelor’s degree Magna Cum Laude from Tufts University. She currently resides in Lakeview with her husband and two children.
Carol Lockhart joined Baum in October 2006, launching their Indiana office. Serving as Baum’s principal broker for the state of Indiana, Carol provides a unique service by specializing in tenant representation for the entire state of Indiana and working on the national expansion of several concepts as a member of Baum’s National Real Estate Solutions division.
Carol currently represents FedEx Office, Primrose Schools Franchising Corporation, Jamba Juice, Potbelly Sandwich Group and other private equity firms looking for ground up sites for national tenants. She is also actively assisting in the expansion of other Baum clients in Indiana.
Before beginning her career in commercial real estate, Carol managed the Indiana office of ING Financial Services, specializing in retirement plans for hospital and school employees statewide. She is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and an active Board Member for Arts for Lawrence.
Carol graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and is a licensed pilot.
Douglas Renner joined Baum in 2006 bringing with him over a decade of retail experience. As a Managing Director at Baum, his focus is to oversee third party leasing representation for owners, developers, and investors of retail shopping centers, single tenant investments, mixed use developments and portfolio management of disposition assignments. Doug’s clientele range from big-box grocery anchored centers and urban infill mixed use retail to single tenant net lease assets.
Doug has a 20+ year track record of success and has been responsible for lease and sale transactions valued in excess of $700 million and 2 million square feet. Doug’s successes include implementing market strategies for national, regional and local tenants as well as developers and investment landlords. Notably, Doug was responsible for leasing a competitive stretch of North Michigan Avenue between 2 and 20 North Michigan to Starbucks, Panera, and Remington’s Restaurant that changed the complexion of the street.

Matt Fetter joined Baum in July of 2011 after serving as a real estate broker for five years at Johnson Controls. At Baum, Matt is the Managing Director of the National Real Estate Services team and represents clients such as Duluth Trading Company, The Boiling Crab, Aurelio’s Pizza nationally, as well as other concepts in the Chicagoland market. He specializes in planning, executing, and managing real estate transactions throughout the United States.
Prior to joining Baum Realty Group, Matt was a director for the Real Estate Brokerage Team with Johnson Controls, Inc. He has independently completed over 3 million square feet of commercial real estate transactions.
Matt is a licensed real estate broker, a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, and for a number of years has been a mentor at Chicago Youth Centers.
Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado.
Ari joined Baum in 2018 as the founder of the Urban Office & Industrial Division, bringing with him 17 years of combined experience in commercial real estate and finance. Prior to joining Baum, Ari spent 8 years as a broker at Jameson Commercial where he specialized in investment sales, commercial leasing, and investment advisory services. A top agent there, year after year, he was Jameson Commercial’s top producing agent in 2017.
Ari possesses a unique background having worked as a financial analyst on Wall Street prior to his career in real estate. His underwriting and financial modeling expertise, combined with his strong negotiating skills and deal making prowess, allows Ari to effectively serve his clients’ interests in a multitude of ways. His experience includes a wide variety of asset classes including office, industrial, retail, multi-family, and development land.
Ari holds the highly regarded Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, the LEED-AP designation, and is a licensed real estate salesperson in the State of Illinois. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan with a concentration in finance. Ari was recently named as one of Crain’s Chicago Business Most Influential Commercial Real Estate Brokers of 2017.
Jackie joined Baum in 2015 and serves as an Associate in Baum’s Investment Sales division. Jackie’s focus is to grow and development new business on a local and national level.
Prior to joining Baum, Jackie worked at Mid-America Real Estate Group in suburban Chicago. During her tenure there, Jackie adapted and grew her knowledge base in various departments within the company including accounting, property management and client relations. She was responsible for actively participating in request for proposals (RFP) for new business, assisting in tenant lease language negotiations, developing and implementing procedures to properly quote triple nets for prospective tenants, abstracting and enforcing legal documents (inclusive of tenant leases and OEA agreements), and overseeing the due diligence process for property acquisitions and dispositions. Furthermore, she was responsible for managing property funds by overseeing cost control and addressing tenant receivable issues to collect delinquencies consistently in order to meet projected NOI. Jackie was also responsible for completing annual budgets, conducting strategic reviews, financial variance analysis, and market overviews for both institutional clients and sole proprietors.
Jackie is an active member of International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and a licensed Illinois Real Estate Broker.
Jackie earned her bachelor’s degree Cum Laude with a double emphasis in Finance and Management/Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University, where she was a member of her collegiate volleyball team. When not in the office, Jackie can be found playing co-ed sports along the lakefront, traveling to new places, or spending time with family and friends. Jackie currently resides in the River West neighborhood of Chicago.
Will Crowden specializes in the sale and leasing of urban and suburban retail properties. Over his fifteen-year career, Will has worked closely with many institutional property owners and developers on the product side, and has exclusively represented many local, national, and international tenants in the Chicago market and several throughout the country. Will can effectively service a small growing brand and has earned the reputation of being a national retail specialist acting as the real estate point person on multi-unit national roll outs. Will has been a leader in the commercial real estate industry for more than 15 years, and has successfully represented dozens of property owners including Macerich, Newcastle Limited and The Sterling Bay Companies and has also performed extensive workout services with many local and national banks, including Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase Bank and MB Financial, helping them dispose of numerous troubled assets. Will is a trusted advisor to several retailers – including Fortune 25 and 200 companies. He has exclusive relationships with Marathon Petroleum, Starbucks Corporation, Blaze Pizza, PDQ, MedSpring Urgent Care among others.
Prior to joining Baum, Will served as a Vice President at Jameson Commercial, where he primarily focused on the sale of retail properties and net leased investment properties, retail leasing and landlord representation. Will’s additional experience includes serving as a Senior Associate for Sperry Van Ness, a national commercial real estate firm in Chicago, where he worked on the sale of commercial condominiums and the leasing of commercial space, in addition to landlord / owner representation and handling net leased investments. Will’s commercial real estate career began as an Asset Manager for Joseph Cacciatore & Company in Chicago, managing over one million square feet of commercial property throughout the Chicagoland metropolitan area.
Will served on the Board of Directors at The Chicago Association of REALTORS® (CAR) for two consecutive terms and was also the 2012 and 2013 Chair of CAR’s Commercial Forum Committee. He is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), a founding member of CAR’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) Advisory Board and a member of the Real Estate Investment Association (REIA).
Marcus Cook joined Baum in 2016 bringing his expertise in the hospitality markets and his enviable track record to Baum’s tenant representation team. Marcus has represented a wide spectrum of clients by capitalizing on his deep understanding of the service industry.
Marcus gained invaluable experience and an incredible business network through his management roll with Chicago-based Gibson’s restaurant group. He has a keen understanding of restaurant and bar operations, and routinely applies that knowledge in the representation of landlords and tenants as well as buyers and sellers of commercial properties.
Marcus also has significant experience with distressed and under-performing assets as well as bank owned real estate. Marcus previously served in several brokerage roles with Conlon Commercial, including several years as their Managing Director, where he honed his reputation as an unwavering client advocate and tenacious broker.
Marcus earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Iowa.
An investment sales veteran with 12 years of brokerage experience, Brad Teitelbaum leads the nationally recognized Net Lease Division at Baum. With a focus on the disposition and acquisition of single tenant and net lease investment sales from coast to coast, Brad has completed over $300,000,000 in transactions in just the last few years alone. Some recent transactions include: Hobby Lobby, Panera Bread, Tutor Time, Walgreens, Chipotle, National Tire & Battery, Chase Bank and more from all regions of the country.
Brad began his real estate career at Grubb & Ellis while attending Arizona State University, where he graduated with degrees in both Communication and Business. Brad has been featured in multiple publications including Crain’s, Illinois Real Estate Journal and Real Estate Bisnow.
Brad lives in downtown Chicago and has been a member of Young Real Estate Professionals, ICSC, Urban Land Institute, Illinois Restaurant Association and also spends time volunteering with multiple organizations including: Other Side of the Green, Inspiration Kitchen and PAWS.
Patrick Forkin is a Vice President at Baum and co-leader of the firm’s Retail Investment Sales practice. With more than 11 years of experience in retail commercial real estate sales, Patrick has transacted or advised on aggregate sales of more than $1.5 Billion. Since 2014, the Investment Sales Team has closed over 135 sales transactions in over 14 states, with a total value of over $460 million.
Patrick graduated with honors from the University of Missouri, earning his bachelor’s degree with a triple emphasis in Finance, Real Estate, and Economics. He also interned with Jardine Lloyd Thompson in Dublin, Ireland.
Patrick is a licensed real estate broker in Illinois and Missouri, and is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute and Young Real Estate Professionals of Chicago. In his free time, Patrick enjoys traveling, playing hockey, tennis, golf, and spending time with his family and friends.
Nicole Cardot joined Baum in 2010. She provides both tenant and landlord representation services with a focus on downtown Chicago and the surrounding suburban markets. Nicole exclusively represents Chipotle, Starbucks, Graeter’s, Dotty’s Café, McAlister's Deli, Insomnia Cookies, DMK, Blo Dry Bar, Club Pilates, Luke's Lobster, and a variety of independent retailers and restaurants. She also represents numerous landlords including Campus Acquisitions, Akara Partners, Speedwagon Properties, GW Properties, Hines, and Newcastle Limited.

Dan Molnar joined Baum in 2012. He specializes in retail tenant and landlord representation with a focus on downtown Chicago and the surrounding suburban markets. As a member of Baum’s Tenant Representation Group, Dan has secured hundreds of leases for tenants throughout Chicagoland. Exclusive representations include Avenue, Dotty’s, Five Guys, Jimmy John’s, Naf Naf Grill, Primrose Schools and Starbucks, in addition to multiple independent retailers, restaurants and landlords.
Prior to joining Baum, Dan worked as a broker at Colliers International where he helped establish their Chicago retail division. During his time there, he exclusively represented accounts including Palm Beach Tan, European Wax Center, Granite City Food & Brewery and Ace Hardware.

Trevor Jack joined Baum in January of 2014. He provides landlord representation services to a portfolio that includes listings both in the city and suburbs of Chicago. Trevor currently is tasked with leasing responsibilities for Wilson Yard and City Hyde Park as well as properties in Roscoe Village, Lincoln Park, Logan Square, Wicker Park, and Naperville.
Prior to joining Baum, Trevor interned with Cushman & Wakefield in their retail brokerage division where he canvassed for tenants looking to enter the Chicago market, abstracted leases, analyzed market data and developed briefings.
Trevor is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute, and the CCIM Institute.
Trevor graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban & Regional Planning. Trevor is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois and is a LEED Green Associate.
Mark carries a high level of skill and an impressive track record of success in leasing grocery anchored centers, multi-tenant outlots, urban retail sites, and suburban strip centers. His talent for identifying prospects for retail strip centers, researching and interpreting tenant’s business and financial sustainability, negotiating letters of intent and leases has been praised by local and national clients alike.
Prior to joining Baum’s Landlord Team, Mark worked for Regency Centers, Edgemark CRE, and The Lord Companies. Mark has leased multiple power center developments within the Chicagoland area, including junior anchors and outlots, re-merchandised and leased lifestyle centers as well as multi-tenant outlot buildings. He was responsible for the leasing of a 17 property portfolio of grocery anchored shopping centers, totaling over 2.8 million square feet throughout Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota.
Mark graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 2007 and is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers. Mark lives in Chicago with his wife and son.
Tyler joined Baum in 2018 as an Associate in the Urban Office & Industrial Division. He provides landlord representation services to a portfolio that includes listings both in the city and suburbs of Chicago. Tyler is currently tasked with leasing responsibilities in West Town, Fulton West, and Bucktown. He is responsible for market analysis, canvassing, marketing, and assisting with showings for each property within the portfolio.
Prior to joining Baum, Tyler held an analyst position with Simon Property Group where he prepared lease analysis on rent spreads, occupancy, and kick-outs for key retailers, prepared all applicable bills in accordance with lease terms, and resolved tenants’ problems regarding billings and lease language.
Tyler graduated from Butler University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance. Tyler is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois. In his free time, you can find Tyler on the golf course.
Graham joined Baum in October of 2014 and serves as an associate on the Net Lease Team within Baum’s Investment Sales division. Graham focuses on business development and researching single and multiple tenant net lease properties and transactions on a national basis. He graduated from the University of Missouri, earning his bachelor’s degree with a double emphasis in Finance and Real Estate. While at school, he studied finance abroad for a summer in Bergamo, Italy. Prior to joining Baum, Graham interned with the leasing team at The Staenberg Group, based in St. Louis, MO, his hometown. During his time at The Staenberg Group, Graham helped underwrite leasing deals, canvassed new and existing properties, and researched national market and demographic trends.Graham is a member of ICSC, Urban Land Institute, as well as the Illinois chapter of CCIM where he serves on the membership committee. When not in the office, Graham can be found outdoors, on the golf course, or spending time with family and friends.
Evan joined Baum in June of 2018 and serves as an analyst on the Net Lease Team within Baum’s Investment Sales division. A graduate from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Evan earned his bachelor’s degree with a double-major, studying finance and commercial real estate. While attending IU, Evan served as the Vice President of the Undergraduate Finance Club. Additionally, Evan was selected for the Commercial Real Estate Workshop, a 16-week program focused on skill development for a successful career in real estate and capital markets. Prior to joining Baum, Evan worked as an Asset Management intern at General Growth Properties. During his time at GGP, he assisted with expense analyses, lease reviews, and market research.
Originally hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Evan enjoys playing golf, basketball, and traveling.
Lauren Martin joined Baum in September of 2017. She supports the National Real Estate Services team with both corporate and franchise client work. Clients include Duluth Trading Company, Scout & Molly’s, and Potbelly.
Lauren’s background in recruiting and strategic event planning, coupled with her passion for food and travel, lead her to the commercial real estate industry where her focus is helping clients expand their businesses into new markets across the US. Prior to joining Baum, Lauren worked as a Campus Recruiter at Citadel LLC, focusing on recruitment of trading and investment professionals and interns from East Coast and European Universities. Before her time in recruiting, Lauren worked at Vivid Seats where she was responsible for VIP events & hospitality.
Lauren graduated from Illinois State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications.
Heather Muth joined Baum in 2016 and serves as an Associate Project Manager and broker in the Tenant Representation division. Her work primarily focuses on downtown Chicago and the surrounding suburban markets, and she works with such clients as Starbucks, Chipotle and a variety of independent retailers and restaurants.
Prior to joining Baum, Heather lived in Los Angeles and worked for Rolling Stone on the advertising sales team. She earned her bachelor’s degree with a double major in Communication Studies and Theatre from Saint Mary’s College in Indiana where she graduated Magna Cum Laude and was captain of the varsity soccer team. When not in the office, Heather is an avid runner and is active in the Chicago improv/sketch comedy scene.
Heather is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and Women in Retail Leasing (WIRL), and she is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois.
